The signal box was erected circa 1878 by the London, Chatham & Dover Railway.Originally contained a 23-lever frame of the LCD’s own design. The box served Tilmanstone Colliery. The box was decommissioned 28th December 2011 when the control of the line passed to the new East Kent Signalling Centre, Ashford. The wooden top part of the signal box is now at the nearby East Kent Ligh Railway
